The annual costs attached to the Safe Surrey Coalition’s Public Safety Platform are modest and carefully accounted for:

Costs

  1. 95 New Officers – $15,000,000
  2. 24 New Bylaw Officers – $2,000,000
  3. CPSD Community Strategy – $4,000,000

Total: $21,000,000

Payment

  1. Elimination of Surrey City Development Corporation (administration savings, liquidation of assets) – $10 million  NOTE: The Surrey City Development Corporation currently owes the City of Surrey $70 million
  2. 25% of Taxation from New Businesses and Residents – $5 million (2013 figures)
  3. 1% savings in Budget (no cuts to police services or city staff) – $6 million (including eliminating the Surrey Regional Economic Summit)
